New EU Directive on gender balance

I'm excited to kick-off coaching for a new cohort of individuals for a client organisation this month. I'm always amazed by the variety of challenges they bring and it's a pleasure to match them with my team of expert coaches who can support with a host of different professional and personal issues. If you're interested in coaching for your people, please do get in touch to find out more about our Coaching Bundles or Group Coaching sessions which are cost-effective solutions for organisations who want to retain women and increase support in this area.

Here are my 3 things to know from June:

  1. How to retain women: understanding the impact of the menopause at work. It was a privilege to host the first of a series of lunches on 'How to retain women' in London earlier this month. With many organisations planning to expand provision of menopause support, our first topic was on what businesses are doing in this space, and sharing initiatives, ideas and best practice. Thank you to all the amazing organisations who contributed their ideas: GSK Healthcare, Wickes, Cornerstone Barristers, East of England Co-Op, Irwin Mitchell and Noon. You can read the write up from the lunch what we learnt in my latest blog post here.

  2. New EU Directive on gender balance. The European Commission announced a new Directive this month which sets a target for EU companies listed on the EU stock exchanges to improve gender balance. It sets a target of 40% of women among non-executive directors and 33% among all directors. After ten years since the directive was proposed, this is a welcome step towards gender equality across Europe. Find out more here.

  3. Wellbeing and self-care on The Confidence Conversation podcast. The focus for my current season of the podcast is how to manage your own wellbeing alongside your career. I've been joined by two fantastic guests, Helen Ashton who chats to me about 'How wellbeing can build confidence at work' and Sarah Tennant with a 'Focus on your own wellbeing'. I'm now also recording the podcast for YouTube so you can subscribe to watch these inspiring conversations. Let me know if you enjoy watching!

Finally, I'm running a virtual one-hour Confidence masterclass for coaches on Tuesday 12 July. If you're interested in signing up, the non-member ticket price is £45 or you can attend for FREE by signing up to a free trial of the Coach Matters Network. Click here for the event link and it would be lovely to see you there.

Until next time,

Joy
